Unexpected Journey: Insufficient Glandular Tissue

I’m writing this because I felt pretty alone over the last two weeks. I had heard of people struggle with breastfeeding but only in pretty general terms – latches that hurt, worries about the amount of milk, etc. I never heard about women using formula in the beginning to supplement (which turned out to be pretty common) or my issue at all.  I just thought I was different and weird. Instead of pretending everything is going according to “plan” I decided to tell it like it is so maybe someone else won’t be quite so alone.

On November 9th, at 1:54 am I gave birth to our daughter Eliza. My pregnancy was pretty uneventful – I had some morning sickness for a while in the beginning, but it had been smooth sailing since about the 16th week. I walked most days, worked until the end (42 weeks), and managed to only gain about 18 pounds (I was over weight before getting pregnant so the goal was to not gain a ton). Read more ›

My Muffins Bring all the Boys to the Yard

There’s nothing better than a muffin. Well maybe a freshly baked muffin.  Or even better, a freshly baked muffin that only dirties up one bowl.

Liebster Award

If you’re like me, you’ve probably never heard of the Liebster Award. Basically, smallish bloggers have devised this “award” as a way to connect to other bloggers and spread the readership love. It’s sort of equivalent to those chain letters your friends would send/hand you in middle and high school. Except if you don’t do it you won’t have seven years bad luck or end up in the poor house. You’re just a spoil sport. I suppose now they are chain emails. I’m old.

The gist of it is: I’m supposed to introduce you, dear readers, to the people that nominated me, answer some questions about myself, and then introduce you to a few, new bloggers that I read. Therein lies the rub. I honestly don’t read very many blogs consistently.  The ones I read are gigantic and definitely don’t need lil’ ol’ me’s help. We’ll see how this goes… Read more ›
